Goal: The design firm West Parks and Associates brought
in Terra Firma to bring a softness to compliment their design for
The York Regional Government Building project in Toronto.
The Challenge: West Parks and Associates hired
Lisa Aiken for her expertise in corporate applications. Because
this was a public space, health and safety issues were paramount
and Lisa needed to adhere to strict regulations.
The Solution: Lisa, suggested specific high-end artificial
trees for the following reasons:
No maintenance involved
No natural elements such as soil which reduces any mould or
mildew build-up.
Non-allergenic.
The end-result looks real. In fact, as Lisa was putting together
the end product, members of the public kept commenting: "what
beautiful trees, I hope they hired good gardeners to look after
them".
Avoid mess with soil, water and dropped leaves.
Lisa and her team of specialized professionals work to strict
safety standards.
Special Issues: In public spaces, the safety issue is always
paramount. The trees and urns were created by a special industrialized
process used in commercial projects. Because some of the trees were
as high as 15 feet and needed to be stabilized properly, appropriate
weight was added to the base in order to avoid accidental tipping
The Result: High-end artificial trees added beauty to the
interior landscape without compromising health and safety
